I have a Carter AFB carb that is a spread bore carb. I also have a Mr. Gasket spacer that was on my old intake that reduced it from a spread bore to a square bore.
I am wondering can i get away with not putting the spacer on my new RPM intake?
Will the spread bore actually bolt to the RPM? I though the bolt pattern was different. But, I could be mistaken. Anyway, it's a good idea to use the spacer as it helps to keep the carb from getting too much engine heat.
I'd try it first with the spacer. But, even if you don't, it's not that much work to experiment using or not using the spacer.
I think you'll be better off with a spacer anyway. I used a spacer specifically for limiting heat transfer. I don't know if they make the adapters with that material or just aluminum. Either way it'll be better than right on the intake.
