spray on bed liner

I am thinking of putting a spray on bed liner in my truck. I was thinking of getting a herculiner since they come in do it your self kits and are not as expensive as other spray on liners. Does anyone have any experience with herculiner? If so please post about it

thanks

Has anyone tried the herculiner? I was wondering how much it cost and how thick it was on a long bed that covers both the bed and sides.

Well I've done the Duplicolor DIY, and don't bother. It is the equivalent of black paint, and just about as thin as regular paint. I've heard that the Line-x is the way to go as far as professionally applied stuff, but don't know at all about the Herculiner.

Dont bother with DIY kits, over time they end up peeling off, go get a pro install spray liner like line-x you will be happy. Linex is applied as a hot spray and cures hard and tough. Also linex comes with a lifetime warrenty. So again dont bother with DIY spend a little more for a pro spray liner and you will be happy, your truck will be happy, and everyone else will be happy, lol

i have a "reflex" spray in liner in my truck, and i love it to every penny. im not positive down in the lower 48, but i know that here it is applied at the chevy stealership. a friend of mine got his new chevy in LA and had the same applied. they are real durable, spray on almost 1/4" thick, and always have a "wet, glossy" look. just my .02 for you.

I have done several trucks with Herculiner. It is not as easy as they say. But if done right its just as tuff as the other stuff.

First prep is everything. More then light scuffing, then you should wipe the area to be bedlined with a product called MEK. Gets rid of any patrolium based film left on the bed.
If you want it to be the standard thickness that the dealers do you need a gallon and a half for an 8' bed under the rails.
Coat and recoat.

The first truck I ever did 5 years ago still looks good and it gets USED!
Now the only reason I did it was because in Alaska they wanted $500 to do it and I could do it for $200 - $250. But it took me all day.

These days I just drop off the truck for a couple of hours and pay the man $350.

No, none of the do-it-yourself solvent based stuff, including Herculiner, is as tough as the professional products like LINE-X or Rhino. I can give you the chemical details if you wish.

I have had Rhino in two trucks and its fine. Its a little too soft, especially compared to Line-X, but the Line-X is rough on the knees. Armour Thane is pretty close to Rhino, I think. Anyway, around here they are all about the same cost. I was prepared to get Line-X this time around, but the ziebart guy had it on special so I saved by having him do it at the same time as the undercoating. I scuffed it up a few times on my old truck but never actually stripped it up. Besides, they all carry a lifetime warranty, as stated previously and it's transferable.

i haven't used line-x, but i know on the diy projects, DernMooseAk is right on that prep is everything. plan on spending some good time scuffing all the paint, and a good quality chemical degreaser. use good ventilation, but if you prep it right, it'll stick great, hold up well, and for a fraction of the cost (bed and cab for about 150!)

Not true my friend.

One gallon of the DIY stuff, which they say is enough for a short bed truck, is about $90. I'm a LINE-X dealer, we spray about 4.5 gallons in a short bed truck. So, 4.5 gallons of DIY stuff would be $405. What your getting with DIY kits is LESS PRODUCT (and an inferior solvent based product) in your truck.
