Whet to use front wheel drive on my 1977F-250 and it did not engege. Put the truck up on jack stands and found that the transfer case works, but the wheeels do not turn. The driver's side front axle was turning but no drive to the wheel. The passenger side axle was not turning. Any thoughts? Thanks
So the driveshaft was spinning and the pass side axel wasnt spinning? Sounds like the drivers side hub wasnt engaged. There could be water or grud all gummed up in the hubs. Hubs are really straight forward to take apart and clean, and are usually what causes most 4x4 problems. Besides its always good to clean your hubs everyonce and a while. I always clean my hubs twice a year, and grease the wheel bearings once a year. Insted of using grease to lube your hubs when you put them back together try using 80w90 gear oil and a little grease. They dont gum up as much, but it does mean you have to grease your wheel bearings more often. hope this helps a little
Why would one axle spin and the other not? I can watch the outboard u-joint spin on the drivers side and not spin on the passenger side? I can imagine that the hubs need cleaning and I will do that. Thanks.MOE
