Hey guys and gals, I have a question about my 74 F250 4x4 wiring. The harness that comes into the engine compartment that carries three wires: coolant temp sender wire; positive for distributer; and one other is the one in question. The other wire with an elbo connector is just sitting on top of the engine. What should this go to???
I'm trying to find the choke wire and was wondering if this should be it. Dropped a 460 in there and still tryin to sort out the BS.
Thanks in advance!!!
Tim
Mine has a mechanical oil sender, where the tube goes into the dash to the stock gauge. Is this wire in there just to fit if using an electronic sender? Also, this wire has power to it when the key is turned on, then pulses power when the ening is running. I attached a light to it and that is what I found. Is this what the oil pressure gauge wire should do?
Thanks for the replies!
Tim
Dennis, regarding colors, the wire seems to have grounded out on something as the insulation is melted off. What little is left appears to be red. But the other two are red as well so that don't do much good. I stripped back into the harness about eight inches or so and the insulation gone as far back as I stripped. The other side of the harness, where the plug is, has four wires going in??? Only three coming out the other side??? I suppose I had better go ahead and strip back all the way.
