I just purchased the gray bottle of PowerService Diesel Kleen in a 32 ounce bottle. Two questions:
A)They say that their are two colors for different seasons gray=summer white=winter. Did I get the correct one?
B)Math-->32 ounces treats 100 gallons 32/100=~0.3 ounce per gallon. I usually fill 32 gallons so 32*0.3=9.6 so I should add approximately 10 ounces per fuel stop correct?
i forget without looking at both bottles in front of me which is which but i think your right the only difference for the white one i think is it has anti gelling solution in it for winter. anyway i add the whole dam bottle to one tank. thats just the way i do it. you can really tell it make motor run quieter but who knows on the cleaning/ treating aspect.

The only difference is the white has an anti gell in it, so the grey will work fine. Per Power service products to raise the cetene 3 numbers 32oz per 100 gallons, or to raise cetene 6 number 32oz's for 50 gallons.
Personally I have a 44 gallon tank and just dumped the entire bottle in, had no problems. I can not say if it helped milage or not because at the same time I switched to the 203* thermostat. I went from 14.4 to 16.2. I dont add at every fill up though but I may start doing it.

THANKS ALL
I add 10oz every fuel stop, I'm in California so I only use the grey bottle. Engine runs much quieter, IMHO
no difference in mileage...still sucks!
Add a half a bottle or the whole bottle, which ever one you want to do. Try it with a half for a tank or two and then try it with a whole bottle for a tank or two. Then you can decide which one you want to run. I don't run it often in mine. Price of product divided by mileage or performace gain doesn't equal out.

grey=summer - white=winter... too much is never enough..!
sorry to hijack the thread... but i was wondering about the "203* thermostat"... how does this help mpg...?
The International engine was designed to run at 203* but Ford changed it for their reasons, emisions I think. The engine runs smoother at that temp but Ford changed the thermostat to a long neck so you cant just swap in a International Tstat, so Bob Riely had a long stem 203* tstat designed and made. It did smooth the idle out on mine and it warms up quicker, and the milage improved a little, some people have reported much better MPG pickups.
Check out dieselsite.com and look at the 203* thermostat page, it gives a much more detailed explination on it.

thanks bdt... i will check it out... btw.. what is the stock temp that ford set at...? also... no difference in egts or anything else...?
I have been putting the whole 32 oz bottle in with fill ups, and i usually get 32-34 gallons in there. I've been using this stuff on every fill up. Is there any harm in using too much diesel kleen?
I just wanted to know if the international part number for the thermostat is set at 203* and if its used on the 96-2003 7.3.
International number.

Johnny - Stock is 195* I didnt notice it lowering the EGT's any but the power did feel smoother after this.
The international one wont work, its too short. Ford changed the water pump and the housing is different than the international one, so it wouldnt open or close right. powerstrokeshop.net sells them now, he gets them from Bob Riley at dieselsite, those are the only 2 places that carry this. 96 and up use the long stem Tstat.
Just a few more questions about the 203 thermostat. Is there any difference in the cooling of the air conditioning? Didnt know if the hotter radiator would have an effect on this. Also do you see higher temps on the transmission with the 203 thermostat? Any other negatives to using this let me know
Thanks
In the really hot regions I have heard of problems with the AC getting as cold. Its been in the 90's here and very humid the past few days and I have no problem's with getting cold. For the winter it is great because the engine warms up much quicker and blows warmer. It didnt effect my tranny temps at all.
Thanks. Im down here in FL and need a quick cooling A/C. But I was planning on redoing my A/C anyways and covering all the Low side lines with heat shield. I will start a new thread about using a Automatic adjusting orifice tube to see if there better then stock. Thanks..
bdt... thanks for the info... i read about this at dieselsite.com... the power being smoother makes sense... but they claimed you would see lower egts as well and that doesn't make sense... well anyway... i don't know if i'm gonna do this one... we'll see...
