A lot of you know we do Chevy's and Ford's side-by-side, but this GM and Ford employee promotions is really starting to take it's toll. In the last couple of days, this has been some typical Q&A's I've been getting.
Cust: "So what is the rebate on the Expedition?" Me: "$3000. no wait, that's the Tahoe...let me double check that for a minute."
Cust: "Do you have any Powerstrokes with 6-speeds on the lot?" Me: "No, all our Powerstrokes have Allisons in them...I mean Torqueshifts."
Cust: "Well, if you sell Chevy's and Fords, how can I go over to Ford and see if they can beat your price on a Chevy?" Me: "ummmm, ummm... " that one gets some sort of prize
Cust: "So why can't you give me blue book for a trade-in on my '04?" Me: "Because book is more than you can buy a brand new one for." Cust: "That's just not fair! Can't you guys raise the price or something?"
I am going to need a vacation before this is over...

It doesn't impact me that much, because of the way I'm paid. The retail guys up front are howling though. The whole retail profit dynamic got blown to you know where.
Ernie, Jeff (polarbear, 1956MarkII) – a question (slightly off topic, but since we’re talking salesman/customer dialog, I’ll throw it out there anyway).
What is a “Jack”?
Twice I have been called this when negotiating on vehicles. One time to my face (in a friendly passing comment) at a Ford dealership, and once again at a Chrysler dealership (overheard the salespeople talking).
Have you guys heard of this label? Is it bad? What does it mean?
Looker, not a buyer. a time-waster, in other words. Pretty idiotic, when you think about it- I've helped customers move their groceries from the old car to the new one (now there's a sign of an unplanned purchase- perishables in the trunk of the trade-in).
Ernie's sure-fire sign of an impulse buy, though- full gas tank when you appraise the trade-in.
No, no I remember a couple times seeing your 'green light' on and it was 3-5 morning, basically really really early in the morning a couple of times. Maybe its not habit...I thought bears like to sleep?

Did you ever think it would come to this?
Hang in there!
You know its a conspiracy, the dollars saved are shifting to the doctors and psychologist for pain and suffering. Oh, and lets not forget the lawyers.
