Air conditioning

Hi all. I have a 2002 ranger 2.3l with no a/c at all. I need to have it put in but the only shop around wants $1700 plus tax for their kit(installed). I need to know if anyone makes a full kit that i can buy and install myself(i have the ability) because $1700 is a bit steep. I should have had the dealer do it and add it to the payment. oh well... Thanks.

I don't know about the kit, but to get it OEM I'd first research exactly what I needed for parts to install. Next, I'd look into prices on parts from a junkyard and, if cost effective, add it to the truck myself. You're right about the $1700 being a bit steep.

Thats what i mean. I can install it myself. I think a kit would be easier. It takes $600 up front for the shop to order the kit but i think that is if you agree to have them do it.

Find out what brand the kit is and call the company and order it on your own. B.S. the shop and say that you would like to do some research on the product to see how good it is before you pay them to install it.
