CD ignition?

Hello!

I have a '92 F-150 5.0L, and I am in the middle of upgrading most of the components with performance counterparts. I have already hit the air intake with a K&N FIPK, the exhaust with an imco performance dual glasspack system, holley headers and lots of misc. stuff..... anyway..... I am wanting to upgrade the coil to go with my ford racing plugs/plug wires/distributor..... ford racing offers a performance coil that appears to be a direct replacement, but the discription clearly states that it is for "CD" ignition systems only, and I can't get a year-model compatibility reference from them... (they really should simplify their site...) anyway, what is the "CD" ignition system, and does my truck have it? I would greatly appreciate some feedback on this matter! :-)

Your truck does not have CD (capacitive discharge) ignition stock. Something like an MSD 6A ignition box would be a CD ignition system. MSD also makes a stock replacement coil with more voltage that will work with both the stock ignition and an MSD or other CD ignition.
