Speedo cable

Need to replace the current one. Trans is an NP435. I took a 5 minute look the other day, cant find the old one...if in fact there is one there. Where does it hook up on this transmission...or, is it on the transfer case?

One end fits on the back of the speedometer, obviously, and the other end fits into the tailshaft of either the tranny on a two wheel drive or in the transfer tailshaft, I think. Anyway, it will be on the driver side about half way or a little more up from the bottom and near the output or rear. It's held in by a small bolt, I think 3/8" wrench, that goes through a fork like device that holds the gear into the housing. If it's broken off you should be able to see at least a small piece of the cable sticking out. If someone blocked it off on purpose there will be the small bolt and a modified cover for that purpose. Good Luck
