1990 Hazard Flasher Location

Hello everyone,
Got an annoying problem. I cant seem to find the hazard flasher on my truck. Ive heard two stories on this. One, that It is located behind the fuse panel to the left of the stearing column. Checked and all I found was the one circular one for the turn signals. The second story ive heard was that it was located to the right of the glove box. I have since ripped that whole area apart and found nothing. I am a little lost here, I am beginning to think it doesnt have one at all. The strange thing is that If I turn the hazards on and then hit the brake all four corner lights come on. This has been racking my brain for 3 months now off and on. Any hints?
I have searched the forum and found that most threads deal with 92-96 model years that have a multifucntion switch and the flasher is in a different location than mine. Anybody that has replaced this thing or knows exactly where it is please help. Thanks

I believe the hazard flasher is on the back of the fuse block (the side opposite of what you can see). Do the lights flash when you don't have the brakes on? If so, there is no problem. The lights stop flashing when you press the brakes, since there is no third brake light on these trucks, it must be safer for the brake lights to come on than for the hazards to keep flashing.

Thomadm, you are correct in your second part of your post. It is located behind the glovebox (right side I think). When you turn the hazards on and hit the brakes they are supposed to stop flashing. If not people won't know you are stopping because they wouldn't see you brake lights.

Is that why you are replacing it? If so then do not worry about it. Good luck!

THe hazards dont work at all. Nothing happens at all when i pull the switch. When I turn the hazards on and then hit the brake, I can get the lights to light but not flash. All I found near the glove box was the horn relay. Ill try looking for it again behind the fuse panel. What a retarded location for a flasher...

Ok, it FOR SURE has to be the flasher. I am REALLY sure it is located behind the glove box. If you can't find it let me know. I will try to take a picture from a work truck on Monday with the EXACT location.

I'm relatively sure the flasher is mounted to the back side of the fuse block on a '90.

Well it is weird. I know on a 87 it is mounted on the back of the fuse panel. On a 88 it is for sure mounted behind glovebox and I am pretty sure a 91 is mounted behind the glovebox. So I would assume on a 90 it would be mounted behind a glovebox.

Will have to find out for sure though...

Well, took the fuse panel loose, still nothing. You can see some of what I tried on my gallery, i posted some pics today. Am I missing something or am I blind? If you could post some pics of one that would be great. Thanks again!

on your truck the hazard flasher is on the back of the fuse box. the fuse box is by steering wheel, and you can see the round turn signal flasher, reach behind that and you will feel the hazard flasher. i just went out to my truck and made sure, i have a 94 but i believe yours is the same. i hope this helps.

OK I got you some pictures from a 1991 F350. The flasher is in the same location in the 1988 F-Super Duty at work as well also. So, it should be the same for your truck.

There are two pictures. The flasher is the round green thing. It should be in that area or maybe to the right a bit. It could possibly be attatched to the wall.

Good luck! And let me know if that helps.

Talking Fixed!!!!

I found it!! Thanks Matt, followed the wire in the pic and found the hazard connector, the flasher was mounted on dash under the AC duct. plugged it in and hazards work again!! Dont know how it got unplugged, must have been when I was replacing the heater core last year.

Also swapped flashers for the turn signal from a 93 explorer and now my turn signals work fine again, all in all a productive night. Thanks again!!

i would think on back of fuse box because it is similar to a 96 f150 and that is where it is at on the 96.
