Well guys, I've decided that when I finish my '53 F-800 semi, I'm going to sell it. I need help figuring what to ask for it. I'm going to save the crewcab conversion for a personal rig, but I've got a sleeper from a Peterbilt I'm going to put behind it. It will have a CAT diesel, with a 5+4 transmission. It has airbrakes, and I've got a Peterbilt Aire-ride rear suspension coming for it. It will be finished as a tractor truck with a sliding fifth wheel. I've also got Alcoa 22.5 aluminum wheels coming for it. I've got a pair of 150 gallon polished aluminum tanks, and all the other "Big Rig" goodies on the way to put on it. I just don't know what to ask for it when it's finished. Any ideas, please let me know.
Joe, that's a really tough one. An unusual rig like yours will command a good price IF you connect with the right buyer. Otherwise, you may have a hard time selling it - even at a bargain basement price.
I'd certainly take a shot at the classified on FTE first. If you don't get any bites there, try some of the other classified like Hemmings. You'll have to be creative in your copy to find out what an interested buyer will pay.
In the end, the more exposure you get, the more likely you are to find that person or persons who are interested enough to pay a fair price. eBay is always an option to reach a wider audience as long as you are willing to live by their rules.
Yeah, I think I chose an odd one to build. But, I do know that it will be a very unique and very exciting truck when it's finished. As I get more done to it, I'll start seriously investigating the possible value and or market for such a custom creation. Thanks for the input though.
