I just had my plugs changed. Getting close to 95,000 miles and was to busy/lazy to do them myself. Also with the time involved, the lack of thread issue and the blow out issue, I thought I would just get it done. I just picked the truck up and all of my radios stations are still programmed. I can only assume that they did not unhook the battery. In the chiltons, it say to unhook the negative cable. Should I unhook my battery completly for a bit so the computer can reset and make the needed adjustments for the new plugs?

Disconnecting the battery is for safety. The tech probably used a memory saver which uses a 9 volt battery and plugs in to your cigarette lighter or power source which keeps power to the things like power seat memory, the radio, etc.
If you went exactly by the manual for every job you'd probably wear out the bolts on your battery terminals. Most mechanics don't remove the battery terminals nearly as often as the manual says.
Thanks for the replys.
So, if I getting the message, resetting the CPM after a plug change is not necessary. The computer does not need to relearn after a plug change? Or the computer will relearn on its own without diconnecting the battery. Correct?
THanks,
Steve
Just to expand a bit on what Bill said....
The PCM has "adaptive strategy" and is always learning as parts wear etc.
Unless the engine had a bad misfire that the spark plugs cured there should be no reason to reset the Keep Alive Memory.
I unplug the battery because you don't want to hit the high current breaker box with a metal ratchet. That sucks, so everytime that plastic cover comes off, I disconnect the battery.
