My 97 Exp Eddie B, has over 200k and no major problems so far. I changed spark plugs two times, replaced upper and lower ball joints once and trans fluid also once. I dirve the truck daily without any problem. I am currently experience a loud noise each time I turn the steering wheel and I was told I need to replace the Pitman Arm.
Can any one give me some guide lines/ instructions on replacing the pitman arm.
I had this done by an idependent shop a few years ago on my 97 Expy. It was around $125 for parts & labor, IIRC.
To me, for that price, it wasn't worth my time to try replacing it myself. If you decide to give it a try, good luck. Let us know how it works out for you.
Given that this is such a critical safety component, I would pay the $2 and have it done by professionals with the proper tools, such as a pitman arm puller.
