In order to get my truck painted I had to take my lawn mover out of the garage and put it temporarily in the back yard. We got a lot of rain in CA and it won't start. What do you think the problem is?
I had my mower out the other night an it rained. Wouodnt start the next morning. Let it sit in the sun for a day started right up. Im sure its something to do with your ignition an the rain an all. I bet when it dries out it will start.
Most people store their mower with gas in the tank. The number 1 common problem for small engines is stale gas/varnish. If you smell stale gas, the carb will most likely require a rebuild kit. That includes a dip in a gunk tank, but watch out for hidden gaskets/seals. I've done thousands of small engines, the carbs are easy. Chainsaw carbs are a bit trickier. It sometimes is cheaper for a new carb. Just rebuilt mine last year (The mower was a housewarming gift, but didn't run - stale gas, as usual). Runs like a champ now. And oh yes, mowers do get pm like a car - including periodic oil changes (Black oil ain't good).
check for spark, check the fuel...smell, quantity.
Got spark then look for a fuel/carb problem. No spark......look at the plug or points / cd box, grounding wire.
