Tranny Gauge

Has anyone installed a tranny temp gauge lately? I'm looking for one to install in the X to monitor tranny temp while towing our TT. I have read the best ones to get read the temp from the pan...

Any suggestions??

Thanks,

Jeff

well I personally run an electric gauge by autometer installed in the pan. Now that is on my race truck but I dont see that it makes a difference just stating it for clarity, and personally belive that pan mounted senders be it electric or mechanical are the only way to go, and for ease of installation I like the electrical, and as long as it doesn't look totally out of range find no reason to run a mechanical on oil temps.

I have a B&M gauge, the sender is installed in a pressure test port in the side of the transmission case. The sender is the same size as the plug that was removed. B&M supplies the fittings and recommends installation of the sender in the return line from the cooler which didn't make sense to me. The highest temperatures are going to be in the transmission itself or outbound to the cooler. It would be interesting to know where the senders are for the factory installed Excursion transmission temperature guages.

V10x,

Get an Auto Meter or a DiPricol if you want it to almost be a dead match for the Ford dash, then add the steering column mount by Auto Meter, paint it to match and folks will think you have a stock option. We sell this set up all the time. Give us a call if you have any questions etc. By the way you get the hotter fluid reading if you use the test port on the side of the trans, easier than dropping the pan too!

Thanks for all the posts. I think I'm gonna contact you Mark about the gauge. We are planning a long haul to florida in a few months and I'd like to get it installed.

Thanks to all.
