My tranny seems to shudder every now and then when it is shifting through the gears. It does not seem consistant, does not do it every time, and only for a couple seconds at a time, then it is gone. It does seem to do it more often when it is cold. When pulling my 32' travel trailer this past weekend, I did notice that it seems a little more violent. It has been doing this off and on for the past 50,000 miles. Any ideas?? The tranny has 235,000 miles on it, and the fluid smells fine.
Put some info in your signature about the truck model.etc go to quick links and edit a signature. Have you checked the driveshaft for bad universals if it is the S/Cab-CC then check the center hanger bearing.
Just 2 weeks ago my 01 was doing the same type of thing. I would have bet money that it was my tranny making a shudder. Turned out it was my rear u joint that goes into the rear end. I changed both u joints on the rear drive shaft and problem solved. You might want to check em on yours. Just my 2 cents worth.
This is an ongoing problem-U-joints seem to be fine-noticed that it seems to do it most just after it shifts into the next gear, and really shudders when it is cold-seems almost non-existant after the tranny is warmed up
Basically when it shifts from 1st to 2nd, it does it until the RPM's come up, and again from 2nd to 3rd. Like I said, it is almost non-existant after it warms up-but it is pretty bad when it is cold-any ideas?
I would suggest drop a 1-800 dime to B&M see if they have any answers......
Check the electrical connections to the trans first is what the manuals say.......your looking for bent, corroded or dirty pins.
Check all the trans electrical connections especially the one on the right side with the tin cover, remove the tin heat shield, remove the solenoid connector by pushing on the center tab and pulling up on the wire harness. To install push down until a click is heard. Always reinstall the tin heat shield.
My 93 F250 is doing the same thing. I called a tranny guy and he said that it was the torque converter. On another note I drove a Ford work van where I used to work and it done this shutter from 150,000 to 350,000 and the transmission never came out. The shutter/rumble is aggravating though.
