I just read a thread in which KevinM said there was a note sent out to all 2004 F-150 owners that the tire warranty would be extended to 3 years, 36,000 miles...I didn't receive this. Does this really exist and if so is there a reference #? This will be the 5th time in for the nibble (two seperate dealerships) I've had 2 road forces done, both at my expense because according to the dealer the tire warranty expires at 10,000 miles. I want to go in there prepared this time...
thanks in advance,
adunham I'm not sure about the warranty but from what I was told at my local dealership it is only on select tires like the conti's. But having said that I think its pretty crappy that they wouldn't take care of it.
Don't think it is limited to Conti's the letter states tires as part of the original vehicle are covered for 3yr or 36K miles. This letter went to all 2004 F150 owners except heritage owners.
It didn't go out to all owners. bought mine in aug of 04 and haven't seen or heard anything from Ford!!!
Doesn't matter anyway, couldn't wait for my tires to wearout, upgraded wheels & tires in Oct. Have a vibration that started a few months back. It could be the tires but a rebalance & rotation didn't effect the vibe.
Either way I'm stuck with it cause I know the dealer will blame it on my tires until he's blue in the face.
Since I don't have the letter, is there a phone number or reference # that I could give to the dealer in case they tell me they've never heard of it? I just have a feeling it will happen.
Here is the info, letter dated Jan 2005. 2004 F150.
It states:
"In an effort to enhance your ownership experience, Ford Motor Compnay is extending the tire warranty coverage for tire vibration, ride harshness, and uneven or rapid tire wear. Until now the warranty coverage for OEM equipment on your vehicle for tire vibration, ride harshness and uneven or rapid tire wear has been 12months or 12,000miles which ever occurred first.
The tires for your F150 will now be covered for the condition previusly listed, under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty Bumpe to Bumper Coverage period of 36 months or 36,000 miles, which ever occurs first."

4 BF GOODRICH long trails replaced for rapid and uneven wear with rugged trails at 22k miles. I have the 18 in rims on a 2 wd and went with the 18 in tires that they put on the 4wd big dif in looks with just a little bigger tire
I received the warranty paper with directions to place it in my owners manual. I have not had any trouble with my BFG's on my 04 FX4. I rotate them everyother oil change ~8,000 miles. I have put 24,000 on mine since October and just recently had them balanced due to a vibration at 70-75 mph. Other than that it has been smooth as glass. As far as I can tell the tires are wearing good.
I have a 2005 F-150 4x4 with the same vibration problem. It is really bad at 40 mph in the morning on cold tires. I recieved from Ford a sticker to put in the vehicle which says the tire warranty is 3 years or 36,000 miles for tire vibration or harsh ride plus uneven wear and rapid tire wear.. The truck goes into the dealer monday to get checked out. It does not mention Mfg./brands
