I pulled the codes from my '92 Bronco 302 181k. With the engine on, it gave me a 998-"hard fault present". Being a novice at auto-repair, this was way over my head. What is this indicating and where do I start to take care of it. The truck runs OK but does have some issues in gear. Is the tranny shot? Guys, any imput is appreciated
Anyone have any ideas? The truck loses RPM's as the tranny shifts, and the shifts are choppy. The RPM's drop even with the pedal to the floor. Thought it might be a fuel delivery problem, and I replaced the fuel pump and fiter and normal tune up stuff (wires, plugs, rotor button, etc.). Any suggestions or comments would be welcome.
are you recieving any other codes in addition to 998? if i remember right, code 998 during a KOER test signifies "failure mode", and that usually means that one of your sensors is fubar. check for other codes related to sensors as you should be getting them. good luck
