Flathead Engine Pics

My 4th of July weekend was spend putting my newly built flatty into my chassis. I'm going to try to post my first picture to a post here, there's more in my gallery. I'm very pleased with how it turned out...

Still have to break in the cam, with no exhaust on it, I'm axiously awaiting notification the neighborhood is forming an association

I don't recognize cool very often, but I think I recognize that's cool. I like the clean look of the flat upper engine on each side. Very nice job on it.

I've found the best time to rile the neighbors up is just after the 11:00 PM news ends or at 4:15 AM with Lights and Sirens going.

Bee uti full job.... sumpthn to make u proud.... You must be a FF or PD officer. I enjoy wakin the public with the lights and siren from my 1500 GPM pumper when the occasion arises. It will be a while before my 292 Y-block makes much noise.

Really, really nice looking job on the engine! It must feel great getting the engine back in the frame!?! Kind of inspires me along. Thanks for for posting.

Flat Ernie wins the prize (although I'm too broke after finishing the engine to furnish the prize!). They're Offy 400 heads. I taped off everything except the fins, painted them black and let dry. Then took a foam backed sanding disk on my drill and took the paint off the very tops of the fins and just down the very sides of the fins on the front and back of the heads. Cleaned up the paint line with a sanding pen walmart sells for sanding out rock chips. After that clear coated them for the finished look. The engine itself is painted black, and the rest is either aluminum or chrome or stainless, I'm sort of taking the "black and chrome" theme with the truck. I guess I'll have to wait a while to fire her up, having to leave town for a week with the wife so the neighborhood will get a break.
