I have a 2001 B4000 Mazda truck. The 4X4 transfer case motor no longer engages, dash light indicator for 2w high, 4w high, and 4w low no longer works. In fact I had to remove the transfer motor and physically engage it back to 2 wheel high. I have checked: fuses, electrically jumped the transfer motor (it works fine), looked at harness connections and I finally located the electronic shift control module after removing the passengers kick panel (Hanes Manual said driver side). The Hanes Manual as far as trouble shooting in this area leaves little to be desired as well as my electrical experience. Has Mazda and Ford had any problem with the rotary selection switch. Any advice would greatly be appreciated.
They have had a lot of problems with this setup. I will try to remember to post a link I have on troubleshooting this system. It's on another computer that I am not at right now. Hopefully the link is not dead.
Sorry, I just checked and the link I had is dead. There should be some manuals to tell you how to troubleshoot the computer module somewhere. If it's the one I am thinking about, it has a red light that will blink to tell you if there is a problem or not. You might want to go to www.helminc.com and see if they sell any manuals for your truck.

Look under "The Transfer Case - What to Check First!"

I thought you might be referring to that too. It went dead on me and then I found the new link in one of these forums. Looks like it got moved to a new server. That web page has saved my axx more than once.
Good stuff, but I thing the design changed in 2001. I am in definite need of a manual with a detailed wire diagram. I'll probably go to the dealer to see if they will let me take a gander at it!
