If you use a FL1995 PSD or IH FL 3630 filter which is 1 qt larger (better filtration) you would use 11 qts total US, if you use the standard sized filter FL 748 total is 10 qts US.

Use a good grade of diesel oil like Shell Rotella T 15-40 or any other Diesel rated oil. You may want to shorten the change period from 5000 miles to 2500 miles for the first two changes if it is that bad and you know the PO did not change it regularly.
