I have 2005 STX with less than 10K miles, I recently noticed a clicking noise, it appears to be coming from the left quqrter panel or wheel or shock. Any ideas on this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
My truck has recently begun making the same noise. I have a 2004 F150 XLT Super cab 4X4, Auto Hubs, stock general tires.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Here are my observations:

1. It sounds like it is emanating from the front drivers side.
2. The sound only occurs when the vehicle is in motion.
3. The sound is similar to the sound of a rock in the tire but significantly louder.
4. The clicking frequency is speed dependent.
5. It occurs primarily at lower speeds (10-30 mph).
6. The sound is only heard when turning (either direction).
7. It gets louder the longer the vehicle is driven. It may be related to how much braking is being done (i. e. brake or hub temperature).
8. It is definitely not caused by the air conditioner.
9. It is not caused by a rock or nail in the tire.

Has anyone else out there had a similar problem? Any ideas will be appreciated.
Hey tstaffor It appears that I have a similar noise. Mine seems to occur when I am turning left on gentle curves. It sounds almost like a clunk. Similar to something hitting the undercarriage. Any progress in figuring out what this problem is?
ChrisAdams I tried a search for hub and transfer case and could not find anything. Can you remember any more about the posts you referenced?
Ive got 04 Screw with same clicking noise on left turns only. Sounds like its coming from components inside right wheel on mine. Been stumped for a while, still looking. My buddy has same truck with same problem also! Loud and noticable. ANY HELP?
Peace-
I took my truck in to the dealer, they lubed the caliper bolts and thought it was fixed, however it still makes the noise. It sounds like it is in the shock, sometimes when I sit down in my truck, it will make the noise.
There is a tsb out on replacement of the steering column for a clicking noise while
turning. Try graping the steering shaft under the dash and turn the wheel side to side
with your other hand if you feel it in shaft then you need to replace the column. This
is not exactlly like you guys are discribing but it might be worth a shot. meanwhile i'll
check into it more.
I took the truck to the local dealer. It took two days but they did finally correct the problem. I have had it back for nearly a month now and no more clicking. They said the fix was to re-torque some bolts that attach the front susspension to the frame. I did not find out which bolts specifically. What I do know is that it is fixed and I am a happy camper.
i have the same noise and have isolated it to something in the A/C system. It usually happens when only driving. The funny thing is i never drive with my air on it is always off, SO this doesnt make seens to me but this is what i have found so far. I isolated it while the vehicle was in park radio and air off. When i turned the air switch from off to any air selection it would click faintly, but when i turned it back to the off position i got the exact same sound that i was only getting when driving(only when driving my air isnt on). It almost sounds like a system is purging or releasing pressure. If someone finds out what it is fill us in please and i will be back when i get it checked out at the dealer.
well i know this is a really old post... but oh well.. i have that noice, sounds like on railroad tracks, and it goes away when i push the breaks, no matter lightly... what is it?
