Back in the saddle

Well it finally came to pass, buried my "93 3L shorty a week ago today.(blown cylinder head gasket) My mechanic was too busy to really help me so he gave me a loaner for a week so he could have time to move his shop, drove this mighty beast for the week and now have replaced "Big Red" 197k on her with a '92 4L extended XLT, with only 267k runs like a charm and I can live with the rusted running boards...man I like these things...anyone know the average life span of the 4L motor??? for it's age and milage it sure does run sweet.. at least for $700, saftied and e-tested. thanks for letting me ramble
cheers to all.....T

Congrats!

If taken care of, and you make sure to keep the water pump/coolant in good condition, they will last forever. Too bad the body was not built like this.

Unfortunately, my 95 4L with 195K has the same head gasket problem. The rear end seal on the left wheel is leaking too. Am replacing with a new truck. Overall, this guy has been a dream and has done yeomans service over the last 10 years. Enjoy!!
