I'll drink to that.

Is the wife a native S.F.ian?

Where is that CC sign anyway?

O yeah; I'm actually thinking about comtemplating about getting maybe somewhat semi serious on possibly taking a stroll to the beer brewing store; maybe, but probably will, somewhat soon.

I remember those tin beer cans. I remember my Dad and his brother putting the can opener to the lid and hearing that nice "Popsssssssss..." sound. My sisters and I found a tall can of Olympia on our neighbor's fence post. He had left it there the day before along with an opener and about a dozen empties. I mean no need to let it go to waste, right guys? Taking my first few swigs was the last thing I remember, for some strange reason .

Aluminum cans did not come out until 1964. I learned that on the Rockford Files .

I remember the family going to my Dad's Mom's house in those days for a big Sunday meal every now and then. She would boil a pot of shrimp and we would lay a sheet of wax paper on the table. After peeling the shrimp we would dip them into salt, ketchup and whatever else we had. Dad and his Mom polished off the beer while us kids hit the RC Colas. Some times it would be a B.B.Q and I would wipe my mouth on my shoulder, staining my shirt. Other times it would be a huge Turkey dinner with all the fixings like cranberry sauce, stuffing, sweet yams, pumpkin pie with ice cream on top, and of course the RC's and the beer .

Those were the days. The early sixties were such a sweet time for me.

O yea! The old RC Cola (Royal Crown Cola).

Every once in a while I'll buy a bottle for the heck of it.

Then I remember my first taste of this clear stuff called Seven Up.

What the heck is this stuff?

It taste funny.

I want more.

sierraben,
I believe the CC sign is to the north on 80 going west past 9th Av. The wifes from Pacifica (fog city USA) until 12 then in S.F. a broken family. On the island we have overcast until 10 am the last few days, S.F. must be overcast almost all day lately. Gray and gloomy therefore I drink.

This thread was about beer, I was on the job on my lunch hour with Non-Alcoholic beer last year, tastes like crap but worth the trouble I created when the big wigs smelled beer. Ha, ha on them as they were had. We used to carry a couple of 6 pacs of Non A B but had them refilled and capped with Sapporo when we went to Quincy. In Oroville we would water the horse a 69 F250, CHP always looking and stopping drinkers as it's so damn hot in the summer and ticket anyone tilting a bottle. We passed every time.

Mom would feed 7-Up to us kids when we had the flue. It was safe. She would mix it in with Hawian Punch and ice cream for a summer pic-nik.

I haven't seen RC in years. I remember a gimmick they had. They would print $.10, $.25, $.50 and $1.00 on the inside of the little rubber liner underneath the cap. That was about 1968.

Mom and I would stay up late at night with my RC's and her Tab's and a couple boxes of licorice and watch old movies on weekends. We had the best times then.

I forgot about Tab.

Didn't Tab have cyclamates as a sweetener in it.

That was the diet craze back then. Eat all you can eat and have a Tab. LOL

When I was young, my mom also used to give me 7 UP when I got sick or had a fever.

"Gee mom, I don't feel so good . We got any 7 UP?"

Fresca was my sister's favorite along with Tab. I don't remember NEHI. I first became aware of it in "Paper Moon", the film. Shasta was great! And Canada Dry? I drove my sister crazy calling it Canada "Drive." Remember "Golden Bear" potato chips? Oh, they were the best! And how about those flat rainbow colored sheets of taffy sandwiched between layers of wax paper? And those "moon pies?"

Yea, someone ought to start a new thread "My Fondest Childhood Memories."

From beer to soda to candy to probably rootbeer, maybe.

Remember Burgermeister beer?

My uncle also used to drink that stuff.

I used to again, sneek a sip.

It all tasted the same to me. Kinda liked it.

Oh, I forgot about the Root Beer floats! I think Tab had "1" calorie didn't it? I remember something about cyclamates. There was a gimmick around every corner.

Hamms beer is the one I lean toward because of the advertisement. I've always dreamed of going to Germany and eating a big sandwich, potato salad and drinking a big stein of German Beer at one of those outdoor cafes.

Burgermeister was often refered to as Bergie. I remember that. My Dad drank a lot of Coors, Olympia, Bud and Shlitz.

I wonder if there's an Octoberfest here in the Bay Area.

This might be a question for ----------- BeemerNut!

Of course I do occasionally have my own personal octoberfest at the Irish pub I
frequent at.

I just remembered another beer I used to drink-----Strohs.

Them mugs are one litre or 33.86 ounces weight of around 3 pounds. During Oktoberfest in the "Fatherland" it's the crazy tourists that start throwing one litre mugs around, they'll ring you bell if you get knocked on the head.
Ever run a 6.392 litre motor? A 390 ci.
