This past weekend I pulled our 31' travel trailer into the mountains of Va. The more I drove, the harder it was to get into gear. My gauge was showing 190* at the most. Is that too high for a manual? Once we reached the campground and it cooled overnight the shifting was back to normal, notchy shifting. Of course coming bace it did the same thing. Can the fluid in the slave and lines become hot and cause this? Or, is this typical of a failing clutch?
Thanks, Mike
Try changing the fluid in the trans. The factory calls for. MERCON (R) Multi-Purpose Automatic Transmission Fluid XT-2-QDX
CAUTION:
Using a transmission fluid that indicates a dual usage MERCON and MERCON V in a transmission application requiring MERCON, may cause internal transmission damage. The use of any fluid other than the recommended fluid may cause transmission damage. Some fluid labels may indicate dual usage such as MERCON and MERCON V. These dual-usage fluids are not to be used in transmissions that use only the MERCON type fluid. These dual-usage fluids may be used in transmissions that require MERCON V use.
