I have an uncommon question, for any one of you that knows anything about this, which years whistle when you take off the muffler and use a stright pipe, my buddy has an '03 w/out a muffler and it sings real nice and sounds very throaty but not anoing. I heard that in '04 they added 3 or so more blades to the exhuast side of the turbo and quite down the whistle, is this true? How about the '05?
Or what after market Turbo can we buy to get that whistle sound? (the AURORA 5000) I have a '02 PSD CC and want that sound, I know some might say I'm lame for asking this but I think this sounds COOL!! plus it keeps all the other Gas owners puzzled as to what we have under the hood, and the few that do know about it that we have DIESEL TURBO's and to move out the way!!!
Thank's for any advise, and stay strong PSD bro's.
What do you mean DP on it? Down Pipe? because he still has everything on it except the muffler. He has the factory size pipe till where the muffler starts then it goes 4" till the end. They did a half a_s job.
i had a 2003 with a turbo back with no cat and no muffler and it whistled like a jet. more than any truck ive ever heard. everyone commented on it, it was really loud. now i have a 2005 with a turbo back and no cat and no muffler and it doesnt even come close to the 2003. 2005 has very little whistle and is much quieter overall in comparison with 2003.
My early 2003 had a really loud whistle until the turbo was changed out at 20,000 miles. It's barely noticable now. Does anyone know if they changed up the replacement turbos to the same configuration of the later models which are so much wuiter?
If you changed the turbo recently the dealer would replace it with the newer model, and they don't sound as good. My understanding is they added more blades to the turbine side.
