that's NOT made in China? Everywhere I look, that's where they're made. I wouldn't mind spending a little more for a USA made one, but come on, give me some options here guys!
OTC advertises a USA made jack, as well as foreign made jack. I do not have experience with either one. OTC is the manufacturer, I'm not sure where to buy one. If I recall, a 2 ton USA made version costs over $300, but has a lifetime guarantee.
try to locate a public auction of industrial supplies. most of the time you will find all sorts of cool stuff up for auction. last weekend they had a mobile car crusher for sale.
big red is located in long beach but they do not build anything there. they are good at misleading you to beleive that. part of the reason they are in long beach is because it is right next to the port.i have been to their showroom its about 5 miles away from the port. all their stuff is made in china. but i have lots of torin aka big red stuff and it is built very well.
I had to throw my old one away. It was a cheapy and had a slow leak. I would use it to lift the vehicles onto jack stands and never had a problem. Even though I had told my (then) 16 year old son not to use it him and his friends did anyway, while I was at work. It went out with the trash that week. I had tried new O rings and still had slow leak. I just bought a 3 ton Kobalt with jack stands at Lowes. I have not used it yet to see how it works. I have to change wheels and tires on my truck soon, so I'll let you all know what I think of it.
my harbor freight one has a slow leak too it had one right out of the box. i just add a little oil once a month.and for the 40.00 i paid it it was well worth it.
I've heard there are still some pro floor jacks that are made in Taiwan (Lincoln, maybe), and Scandinavia. Of course, you'll probably have to pay 4 to 10 times as much for them. Might as well just give up and go for an aluminum Chinese jack.
Check under floor jack rebuilders for used reconditioned jacks. I picked up a Hein Warner WS commerical series 1 1/2 ton made in America 15 years ago for $145. It has been lifting a 69 and 68 CS front end without any problems. At a court ordered auction I picked up two more of the same model both for $50.
Sunex jacks, not made in America but of high quality and you can get rebuild parts and seals, better than throwaway leakers.

In my post #8 I told you fellows I would share my experience with my new 3 ton Kolbalt hydaulic jack. Well, yesterday I changed the tires and wheels on my 04 F150 4x4. I found that the Kobalt raised the front end high enough, however it barely raised the back end high enough to slide the tires off and new ones on. I wanted a jack that I would not have to use blocks of wood for height. While we were at Sam's club today I bought a Roush 3.5 ton hydraulic jack. I put both jacks side by side and the Roush jack has a lift of about 3.5-4.0 inches higher. It also has much better features and a better handle. It also has a faster lift. Both jacks were made in China. I am going to take the 3.0 ton Kobalt back to Lowes in hopes of getting my money back. Good Luck!
I got one of these Aluminum Blue racing jacks from harbor Freight. i was thinking it was made here in the states. But, turns out it is chinese. i was mislead by the brand name "US General....
Still a good jack for most purposes and it weighs less than half of my standard size iron floor jack. They had them in the flyer for $79.99, then when I went to my local HF store they had a stack of them marked down to $59.99 :-)
