Spare Parts?
Seems to me we all should carry some spare parts for these mules.
Any recommendations of parts and tools that we should keep in the truck?
Belt, CPS and ?????
Hopefully this thread will save us all some frustration and worry by not leaving her on the side of the road.....
Additionals would be a belt, and maybe a couple of tensioner rollers.
Beyond that and it would be more practical to keep a current AAA card in your wallet.
That famous 1/4" drive 10mm socket, short extension, and ratchet to enable the CPS change.
Maybe a can of Fix-o-Flat in case you're really in the Boonies.
What Kwik and Rooster said, too.
Of course, I've really got lots more than that behind the rear seat. ;-)))
(Do you get the feeling this will evolve into a LONG thread?)

After finding a BUNCH of them for sale (sometimes in bulk) on eBay, and suspecting these are mostly made in China, I look around here in Los Angeles.
One of our local bearing supply houses advises that SKF, NTN, or NSK are all good brands. They want $4.80 each for them. I tell the guy on the phone that I'll be right down to get a pair.
When I get there, he asks me what they'll be used for and when I tell him that I'll use them to do PM on my Ford diesel's idlers, he brightens right up! Turns out, he's got a 2002 7.3, and uses it to tow his fifth-wheel. He asks me LOTS of questions about it, and after running my mouth for about five minutes, I gave him the ford-trucks URL to see for himself later tonight.
He goes to the back, pulls a couple of SKF's off the shelf, says he doesn't like the feel of the seal resistance, and has his tech re-pack a couple of NTN's with Polyrex-EM synthetic grease, "just to be sure".
Hope we see him around here soon. His name is John, and he's a pro when it comes to bearings.
