just installed compass and temp. gauge in 04 X 5.4 V-8 and it plugs right in but wont work got it new from ford and they said they dont knw why it wont work can any one help me.
Well, you're probably not gonna like this much, but you're probably gonna want to buy an EVTM (Electrical/Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual) from Ford and a test light or multimeter. The problem might be something as simple as no power into the plug, or maybe since your X didn't originally come with the compass and thermometer, it might not have the necessary sensors. Just about every Ford built with A/C since the early '70s has had an ambient temperature sensor (although that doesn't guarantee that signal works for the temp display on the overhead), but I have no idea where the compass sensor might be.
I'm sorry for not offering a solution, but hopefully I've pointed you in the right direction to find the problem.
