Here we go, let me walk you through a typical morning for cranking my 78 F150 with a 351M in it and motorcraft 2150. Get in, put gas pedal to floor and let up slowly turn the key vroom-die. pump the gas a few times crank vroom-die. pump again turn key crank vroom, sputter, truck shakes violently, 5 mins later she is smoothed out. I tried adjusting my choke and thats ok, but whats got me is my fast idle (the green screw on the pass. side of the carb) i can idle that up and the truck will run idled up when cold and thats fine and i would like it if thats all it did, but after warm up and the choke pulls off and i hit the gas to pop the idle down to low again, it doesent idle down. my friend with a '79 tbird with a 351 c cranks, runs fast, then he hits the gas and it idles down. why cant mine with a 20,000 mile 351M and new carb do the same?
Sounds like more choke adjustments to me... -They can be touchy.
When it drops off the cold idle cam the normal idle screw maintains the idle speed.
Thanks for using FTE!

Also check for a vacuum leak as it will cause an engine to act like crap. If the hoses are old, replace them ASAP as this is a cheap, but tedious, fix. Good luck.
