Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. But I could use some help. I know this has been discussed before but the wire harness under the rear seat of my truck is not there. I know it has to be there somewhere because the behind the head unit the clip is there I even plugged it in to be sure. I cut the carpet, reached my hand under the seat, checked the other side everything, its not there. Does anyone have any clue where the other end of this cable can be???? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, ron
What did the clip behind the head unit look like? Did you have a single cd player and upgrade to a changer? I also can't find mine. but did find only one un used plug behind the head unit. the factory wiring had only one plug bundeled to it the empty plug was on the other side. I'm waiting on the factory wiring diagram cd.
Yes. I upgraded from a single to a 6 disc mp3. The clip was taped to the harness with another little clip attached to it. I removed the outside clip and plugged it in to the head unit. It was the smallest clip of the three and had 4 wires on it. I am sure this is the subwoofer out clip but have no idea where they put the other end.
So was it taped to the same harnes the one on the left (let me Know) if its there then you should look under the carpet on the pasenger side tucked back good. Email me and I will send some pics.
So did you finally find yours? Anyway there were 3 clips a 24 pin,16 pin and an 8 pin. All taped together only the unused one was taped back down the harness with a protective plastic clip covering it. I pulled that off and plugged it into the correct slot on the auduiphile head unit. The only problem is I cant find the other end!! Im about ready to cut one off of a truck at the salvage yard and make my own.
I have a non-audiophile 6CD HU in my '05 Screw. There are only 2 plugs that I can see behind the HU. Could not find a 3rd smaller plug. Schematics indicate there are 3 plugs, but for the life of me, I only see the 2 that are plugged in and don't see anything that looks unused taped to the harness behind. I didn't count the wires to see if the sub outputs were integrated into one connector and counted as 2 plugs
On the other end, the subwoofer plug is under the driver-side passenger seat. It splits off a main harness that runs along the edge and up the pillar. Pull back the plastic pillar cover piece near the floor and you should be able to see the bundle of wires; the sub harness branches off near the floor. Mine was buried deep along a bottom corner of a ledge directly below the back of the seat. There is already 25A fused power on that sub harness via a pair of 16AWG wires. I don't see any signal on the sub signal pins, so I guess my HU doesn't drive anything out of it :-(
The secound plug is for the aux in. you don't have the sub plug on the unit so looks like you have to take a trip to ebay (swap your head unit). I orderd my sub cost me $165 (not bad) and changed my head unit to a shaker 500. swaped out the door speakers (kicker 5.25 componets) rear (5/7 jl audio) and now she sounds great. total cost around $500. I think the audiophile upgrade was around $1500.
I dont understand why all these trucks have wires in different places and stuff. you would think they would all be placed in the exact same way,it only makes since. anyways, aquaman my third plug was taped backwards from the head unit down taped good with black tape and had plastic cover over it. this plastic cover is just a female clip to protect the male where it plugs in. anyway i checked in that location with no luck. i even checked the wire colors and didnt see them running down the door jam.
Found this. Get it! Don't thank me for it!!
I assume you have an '04 or '05. It'll show you where all the
harnesses are and everything you'll need to know!
