I am interested in setting up video surveillance of my front yard to monitor the next punk strike on my F100. Does anyone know if there is motion detection software that is compatible with a digital camera?
I need minimum 120 degree field of view with a range out to 80 feet. I know cameras can fill the requirements, but not sure about any motion detection systems or software. There is probably enough streetlight at night not to have to worry about an IR camera. I do not trust the X10 series of cameras for this job and the best I can tell, webcams would not satisfy the FOV or distance requirements (but I have no experience with either system). I also do not want to spend more than +/- $100 on motion detection or more than $250 on a complete surveillance system that is not compatible with a digital camera. Does anyone have any experience/advice on motion detection or outdoor surveillance (to include cost)?
I was just in Wal-Mart electronics dept and saw they were selling a complete Camera and monitor security system that had a built in motion detector. I did not study the specs but think the detector part is used to trigger a VCR type recording device. I also did not see the price, but another system was shelf tagged at under $50 USD.
Check it out and see if it will suffice for what you want.
