Can these people seriously be that stupid? That column is the most ridiculous piece of crap I've ever read! I think:
Linda Sharp
c/o Wheels, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
P.O. Box 4689
Atlanta, GA 30302
is going to get a lot of mail correcting her stupidity. Apparently, she landed on Earth last Tuesday and hasn't had time to research back past 1995. They should really proofread this slop before they print it. Tell us if they put a correction article in the paper anytime soon.
Anybody on here looking for a good laugh should read this!
Also, this URL is more exact: http://www.accessatlanta.com/ajc/epaper/editions/friday/wheels_b33768818208f13f004e.html

Anyway, kind of reminds me of the computer guy in almost every local newspaper. These "consultants" are completely incompetent.

That lady is an idiot!!! I didn't see an e-mail address otherwise I would have sent her a picture of a 73 supercab along with a dirty and insulting and humiliating letter. Even dodge had a super cab in 78 and maybe earlier. I work with a guy who has one. This lady must have spent the last ten years wedged into a caravan or something. They need to be straightened out big time!!!

People who say it can't be done should not interrupt the person doing it.

I noticed the newspaper or whatever it is has a response link over on the right hand side of the page. Anyone who has an older super cab truck should send em a picture.

People who say it can't be done should not interrupt the person doing it.

I'm pretty sure I saw Pictures of a Four-door Dodge Pickup in the ALCAN Hiway construction history.

The Jap's have some "extended cab" three wheeled pickups over there. It must have been a Stumper, when someone asked them to make one with two wheels on the front.

I would like to know where she got her facts? Dodge did have the first extended cab, but that was in the very early 70's. Then Ford in 1975, and GM in 1988.

I'm not sure, but didn't imports get them at the late 70's?

i have e-mailed her and asked her if my 87 was a figment of my imagination. she quickly responded that it was an editing problem and that she has egg all over her face. here is the mail
> Do you reasearch your articles? No american made extended cabs before '95? I
> guess the '87 ford in my driveway is a figment of my imagination.

Yes,

I do research my articles, but unfortunately I have not
controll over over-zealous copy editors who decide to cut
the words "full-sized domestic."

I'm working diligently to get the egg off my face.

Hope you'll give me a second chance.

Thanks for keeping me strait.

LAST EDITED ON 13-Aug-01 AT 02:32 AM (EST)[p]Even if they left in the words domestic full sized the article would still be wrong because there were obviously domestic full sized extended cab trucks before 1995. This lady simply doesnt get it.

and i dont recall those datsuns having seats........and if they were they were those damn jump seats which aren't big enough for anyone..........believe i spent much time in the backseat of my dad's ranger!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAH Datsuns big enough for American buyers.......that's funny. Hence the reason they dont make a truck that small anymore.........that was about half the size of a Ranger lol...

Datsun's did have the jump seat, I know that from firsthand experience, as my old man had one, and as I was four at the time, guess who got to sit back there?
He traded it on a new 83 red flareside 4x4, 300 6, with 4 speed HD tranny. As a kid, I loved that truck, and I am looking for one to identical to fix up and give to him.
Anyway, he traded that on an 87 xlt supercab. I sat in the back of that one too......

Exactly right, tuck. My Operations Officer owned one (a Chevy IIRC) in 1988 and I had to ride on the jumpseat of that damn thing all the way from Texas to Florida and back again. That episode is forever burned into my memory as I never thought I'd be able to walk properly again.

When I was growing up in Alabama an extended cab truck was one with lawn chairs in the back for the kids.

Was passing through and couldnt believe my eyes when I read that article. My very first pickup was a 1978 FULLSIZED Dodge Ram CLUB CAB. 4 wheel drive, no doors for the back but as full size a jump seat as one could ever make and the V-8 360cid would certainly not have fit in a compact or midsize jap truck. This lady just proves that the media writes what the feel like writting with no regard for the truth.

Did some research. Datsun's king cab was first offersd in 1977. Ford & Dodge both had em by 1975(not sure what year they started or who was first). Manufacturers take great pride in the fact that they were the first to offer xyz to the public. The big three spend TONS of ad dollars with this newspaper's parent company,*** enterprises (*** owns several newspapers, radio and tv stations throughout the country as well as autotrader and manheim auto auctions).Does anyone here know how to contact Ford's marketing dept(or chevy & dodge for that matter)? They would love to read this.
