It depends really on where you live. I live in New York and in order to get some decent heat out of my truck when winter can be brutal, I use the 195 thermostat. I dunno if its any different since mine is a 351w, but I hope that helps. Mike
You will want to keep the stock one (195* I am pretty sure). You may also want to go with a Ford (Motorcraft) part. You will get better reliability with that. Plus, they also have a locking thing on them so they will "hold" into the housing when installing them.
An aftermarket one might fall out and cause you to crack the housing. When using an aftermarket 'stat I find they always sit at the bottom of NORMAL, Motorcraft ones will sit in dead centre. Being too cool will cause your truck to burn more gas and not get up to proper temps.
