AFE Stage 2 Intake Kit

I am considering a change on my '01 7.3 to the AFE Stage 2 Intake Kit, w/ Proguard 7 filter, which replaces the original air cleaner- battery box assembly. I would like to upgrade from my "homemade" open air intake to a cold air intake. Does anyone already have one of these intakes installed? I would like to know if you used the same battery or upgraded to a gell cell. The battery, mounted in the air box, seems to be my only concern.

I guess this air intake is fairly new on the market. AFE seems to have a good product reputation. I especially like the Proguard 7 filter. The results they give, with this intake, seem attainable. I am going to try it and will post my results later.

Either battery will fit fit, AFE provides all the battery hold down hardware etc. The Stage II really wakes up a 7.3 especially if it's stock. It allows you to add more HP items as it helps cool the EGT's a lot. We sell lots of the Stage II's, but we only stock it in the Pro Guard 7 as it flows the air but stops the dirt that the 4 layer washable filters let thru. More work to clean and reuse but worth it in the long run especially on a diesel. Call us if you have any questions we'll be glad to help.
