I'm a total rookie here with distributor ignitions and I'm looking for any tips, or tricks to make swapping in a whole new distributor and setting timing easy. This is for a 1987 F250 w/EFI 302 and NP435 trans.
I have a timing light, rebuilt CarQuest distributor, rotary button, cap, and that stupid TFI module. I also have a new coil to install. The plugs and wires have been on a couple months, so they'll be staying.
Wow, this is fun. Stupid CarQuest rebuilt distributor has a stripped out TFI module bolt hole. Now I'm stuck waiting 3hrs until they go get me another and call.
I hope this rebuilt dist isn't a POS. Any of you use a CarQuest rebuilt dist? How long has it lasted?
just so you know, ford recommends putting dielectric grease on the back of the module to allow proper cooling. Also, you're going to need a special tool to install that module, but you prolly already know that. If you don't you'll find out soon enough Sorry, I don't know anything bout Car Quest.
