Change mine @ 13,000 with normal service. Use the truck for towing #7000 trailer and some pleasure. Sevice Writer thought I might be early but I didn't want to wait until 18,000 to do it. Had to drain out 2 quarts of oil to get it to the right level. Damn that 15 in the book. Next time I'll tell them 13 & 1/2 no more......Good Luck

I do:

Oil filter changes at 8,000 miles.
Fuel filter changes at 25,000 miles.
Air filter changes at 25,000 miles.

I drive 3300 miiles a month on the highways.

That seems alot more reasonable to me. But what about warranty? If you lose an injector or two or...., I don't suppose the dealership will honor the warranty if filters aren't changed every 14000-16000 miles? Am I correct here? The reason I ask is that I am due for a fuel filter change and really think that 15000 is awful low mileage for a fuel filter change. I would much rather wait 5000-1000 more to do it but wouldn't want to get stuck with a big bill if something coincidentally went wrong with the fuel system.

Once you change the original filter, how is it possible for Ford to ascertain how often you change filters? Proof of purchase? I buy 3 at a time, all the proof I need. I can understand if you live in Outter Mongolia where the quality of the fuel is questionable the prudent thing to do is change the filters as often as necessary.

From my experience (30K change) it's foolish to waste my time, and money doing it more often. Every single station I buy fuel from when I'm on the road does such volume sales, I doubt the fuel is in their tanks for more than a day, or two.

If you happened to get a bad batch of fuel, it really wouldn't matter when you changed that filter anyway.

If I were you I'd rethink about not changing both filters @ 15K. First off both filters come in the package as unit. Secondly I just changed mine @ 18K, it was easy, & the frame filter was ugly, full of crap. I was amazed.

The following web site shows the procedure for changing the filters:

I don't worry about warranty issues as minor as "did you change your filters often?" They can't tell when I've done it, and I know my truck better than they do. When the filters are dirty, I change them. If a lot of time has passed and they SHOULD be dirty, then I change them then too. I take care of my trucks; Ford can't tell me that I don't as a means of getting out of a warranty issue. I'd fight it tooth to nail.

I could not open your link, but I have a very clear picture on the fact that both filters need to be changed. Thanks!

Just ordered fuel filters from Fleet Filters (sponsor). Good prices! The same filters at Napa Auto Parts were quite a bit more and as an out of state purchaser there was no tax. Yeah, I caved in and will follow the Ford recommendation of 15000 (14000-16000)miles. I figure that at Brian's prices, it aint worth it to fight it.
Thanks Brian, Tim

I also ordered from Fleetfilters and my filters (oil, fuel, and air) are on the way. Just in time for my 15,000 mile changes. Great suervice and fast shipping, they were "in the mail" the next day!

Brian- How do the Wix air filters compare to the OEM ones?

All Wix filters meet or exceed OEM specs. But who makes the OEM ones? It's pretty tricky, but I posted this awhile ago to help answer that question.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=387707

Thanks for the purchase, but more importantly to me, thanks for the praise.

All the Wix filters I purchased in the past were manufactured by their respective OEM's.

oilfilter Wix 57314, same numbers as Motorcraft OEM
trans filter Wix 57702, NTZ, same as Motorcraft OEM
fuel filters Wix 33599, same numbers as Motorcraft OEM

The International version shows an interval for the "fuel filter" of 20,000 miles; doesn't say "filters" so I'm not sure if it is just the engine mounted filter or totally different.

http://www.navistar.com/site_layout/...t365detail.asp

I have changed mine twice now at 15K and 30K and they looked pretty good both times; but, I'll follow the factory schedule....

I have yet to find any water when draining for same.

International also calls for 10K oil changes, granted the engine holds 5 qts. more oil, and doesn't make as much power. It just happens to be what the manufacturer feels is necessary.

Perhaps Ford is more stringent with its intervals concidering the broad latitude in with these trucks are used. I use mine to go to church on Sundays, while others pull out rageous loads, and think nothing of it.

I'm sure International must use a second filter of some kind, because the engine mounted filter is not a water separator.

I've posted on their longer oil change intervals before. I didn't mention them this time; 1) there is more oil in the pan 2) they push the less power out of the engine 3) on the other hand I would think commercial trucks would be severe duty relative to light trucks.

But fuel is fuel..... Looks like it would be good to filter nn gallons......

They use DexCool too which it seems many do not like. Poor GM application of coolant caps on some vehicles has given it a bad rap.
