hey Well I have been on here a few times before talking about my truck
it is a 79 f250 I was going to put 33's on it drive it but i now have changed my mind I just bought a 88 bronco 4x4. This truck is in perfect shape so I am going to drive it to school and work for now. this way i have something dependable to drive Now my 79 is going to be project truck I am going to fix it up the way i want. I will probally put a 4-6 inch lift on it. And some 35 inch tires. Give it a new paint job. Whatever i want to do to it. but this truck has a 300 straight 6 in it. I was wondering if I should find a stronger engine. I was thinking about getting a 351w but how much would the lift and bigger tires hurt the straight 6??? would it better to go on and get another engine I would probaly find one cheap to rebuild opions??
Hey A 300 in good shape will have lots of torque at low RPMs. Another thing would be to check your gears a lower gear would be better for a 300. It wont be as snappy when you stomp on the pedal as the 351W would be. But a 300 is a very tough dependable engine ford put them in many trucks.
the 300 I6 runs more like a diesal engine, with lotta torque and not too much speed or RPMs. ive seen the 300 in f-350 flatbed work trucks that were worked HARD all their life and never quite going, so there must be something strong in em.
