Starting Over

If you could start over what direction would you go??
Myself i would persue major league baseball more
aggressivly then i did.And would have also tried to become a race car driver of some kind. But one thing i would'nt change is my wife and kids.

From: just outside of Phila.
And now, the end is near;
And so i face the final curtain.
My friend, i'll say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which i'm certain.

I've lived, a life that's full.
I've traveled each and ev'ry highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets...I've had a few,
but then again, too few to mention.

I did, what I had to do,
and saw it through,
without exemption.

I've planned, each charted course,
each careful step,
along the byway.

And more, much more than this
I did it
My way.

Yes there were times, I'm sure you knew,
when I bit of,
more then I could chew.

But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up,
and spit it out.

I faced it all,
and I stood tall,
and did it my way.

I've loved, i've laughed and cried.
I've had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.

To think i did all that;
And may i say - not in a shy way,
"no, oh no not me,
I did it my way".

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows i took the blows -
And did it my way!

-My Way

"You only live once, but if you've lived like me,once is enough"

Song and quote from Frank Sinatra

In other words....I wouldn't change a thing, the goods and the bads

Starting over, I probably would have chosen a different career path. Kinesiology maybe. I would have definitely gotten better grades, and joined the armed forces as a commisioned officer, hopefuly as a pilot.

But I have no regrets in regards to what I'm doing now.

I don't know how much I would have done different, I just wish I knew half as much back then as I know now.

I would have done whatever it took to save money and buy property. Also, I would have spent more time with the friends of mine and family members that are no longer living.

I feel I have started over or atleast got another chance at life. I just went through my second divorce and have met a really great women that has giving me new hope for a new life. We are moving far away from the town we grew up in and going to a place where no one knows us. We are also planning to get married in October. But as far as my past I wouldn't change a thang because I have learned from my past and wouldn't be where I am today.

No, you're right, and I understand what you mean. But I look back at my low points, and can see where they've polished my good ones.

Hypothetically speaking, maybe I'd have done better in school, but I kind of attribute where I'm at now to being the schmoe, who messed around too much, and got bit in the **** and learned better.

I definitely would've unhooked the battery in my car in 1995 before I started wrenching; one of the first times I ever worked on her, and the alternator....lesson learned

I don't know...I know what you mean when you ask, I just think I'm too much of a "eh, it's over now, nothing you can do now but learn from it." kind of guy. Interesting to think about though.

Life is funny, you try to learn from your past and apply it to the future. But of course some poeple never learn. Jdmorg we all including myself wish we did better in school in one way or another, I was a straight A student but my test showd i was a B-
kinda guy. I've also had better oppertunities than most to get ahead. Okay im getting deep here trying to tell myself to shut up.

Maybe stayed in school, been more assertive in my more youthful days, but everything worked out. Good children and a blessed wife.

I will turn 71 next week and like most geezers I have 20/20 hindsight. Looking back I can clearly see some mistakes among a multitude of blessings. I came from youthful poverty to comfortable retirement, watched my children become successful, productive and self reliant adults devoted to their families. I enjoyed a career that challenged me and allowed me to work with some brilliant people that I admired and respected. I grew up in a time where opportunities were limitless and simple values were respected. I have shared my success and failure with loving woman (45 years and counting) who took me when I had nothing. I spend my days as I please messing with my truck, working in my shop, and trying to spoil my 7 grandkids rotten. Life is good.
