bumber tow capacity

Hi all,

I'm wondering how heavy a load I can haul using the hitch bolted to my bumber? So far, I've hauled my girlfriends waverunner and pulled my 30ft Pontoon in/out of the water with no problems. Looking now to buy a 3000# boat. Will it hold or should I invest in a hitch?

95-F150 4.9.

Well my bumper hitch on my 89' f250 is rated at 5000#. and the
factory frame hitch is rated ? 8900#? Is there a sticker on yours
somwhere to inform you the amount? or even stamped? Or a brand you can call and ask what they recommend.

Ford rated the step bumper (which came as an option) on my 1988 Ford 150 XLT at 5,000 lbs. Normal bumpers won't be as strong (I think about 2,000).
