Pull the cup holder tray out approx 1½ inches so that your left and right index finger fits as much as possible under the bottom left and right corner of the Stereo/CD player trim. It takes a very firm pull toward you, away from the Stereo/CD player to get the little tabs to pull away from the holes they fit in under the trim.

Put a towel on the dash, adjacent to the stereo/cd player, on the passenger side as scratch protection if you proceed further.

I also used a screw driver (with a towel under it) carefully to help get a little more leverage. There are 6 clips holding it in.

8 white clips, very firm, very sharp. They like to stay in the dash the first time you yank it.
Pull them out, carefully, they bite, and put them in the surround before putting it back on. After the first time, none of my clips have stayed in the dash.

If you have the seatbelt warning light it has a very short cable. Some people disconnect the harness to it. Others disconnect the lighter and A/C harness. I never have bothered, as with a towel to rest those sharp clips on, there is enough room to get both hands and a double in in the hole.
