water pump sizes

I have an '87 ford E250 4.9L. It has a carpet cleaning truck mount hooked up to it. has ran flawlessly. Then water pump went out on the van. I got it changed and got it back and now the radiator water that heats the fresh water for the carpet machine isnt heating it fully. THe previous owner says they put on a smaller size water pump that isnt letting enough water through the system. The repair shop says there's only one size. So can you put a bigger one that pulls more water through on this model, but at the same time look identical to an original? Ever since i got it back it hasnt been right, I've already replaced the thermostat., still same prob

Puzzled....

thanks,

Jared

a higher flow one would cool the water off faster.
