c-4 tranny problem
ive finally got my engine running in my 81 f-100 302, auto 2x4. But im really not liking how my tranny is operating. it wont shift until i get to about 70 km/h...seems like the rpms are really high until it shifts, and it isnt smooth at all, it kind of clunks into gear. IF anyone has any suggestions , thatd be great thanks.

Sounds like the govenor or valve body sticking. C-4 are notorious for this due to the tight clearances Ford uses on the govenor valves and valve body valves. Doesn't take much to stick them which is why a lot of trans shops will not allow a customer to install their rebuilt trans- (a little dirt or dust in the cooler lines can cause sticking).
If not the govenor check and make sure the kickdown rod is installed properly and doesn't have the trans in kickdown mode.
