I can't recommend what to use, but I can tell you that I just installed Monroe Intatrac and would not buy them again. It seems that several folks on here have used the Monroe Reflex would good results. Joe
I've had the Monroe "Reflex" on for about 3 months and really like their performance. My truck is a 2wd S'crew and the original shocks lasted about 83000 miles (probably needed changed earlier). My son bought the "Instatracs" and couldn't tell much difference from the old ones. Good luck!
I have a 2001 2wd 4.6 supercab Flareside with HD towing package.
I replaced the rear shocks with Edlebrocks to help the unloaded ride. They do so, but are a little unnerving with a heavy load or trailer because they don't stiffen up as fast as I'd like.
I recently replaced the fronts with KYB, which I've liked in the past, however at least initially, they are a little too stiff (or my truck's frame isn't stiff enough). And, I usually like very stiff shocks. Maybe I'm getting old, or maybe I should have gotten the Bilsteins, despite their higher price.
Most people say if you can throw down the $$ go with Bilsteins. But what is the truck going to be predominantly used for? That should be the deciding factor.
