How much lift would it take on a 87-91 F-150 to put 35"s on, and have enough clearence. I am thinking about putting a 6 inch Skyjacker system when I buy my next truck in the next month or so.
4" lift will clear the tires but you will need to do some mods to the fender wells in order to have any travel at all.I would suggest a 6"`lift in order to really be able to utilize your new 35" tires for anything but looks. The price difference between a 4" and 6" is not that much, and considering you want 35" tires it sounds like you may want to do some seriouse wheelin.Personaly I think Superlift manufactures by far the best lift sytstems, for usuable applications,(but they are pricey). You didnt mention which motor will be powering your new set up.Keep in mind that 35" tires need a bit of HP or modified gearing to turn them adequately,(on and off road).Once you start modifying for high lift and big tires it starts to snowball,(unless you are completely unconcerned about performance ability).Dont get me wrong,I love lifted high performance trucks,(and personally have invested a ton af time and money into my Modified F250),but there can be more to it than meets the eye.Good luck, but look before you leap.

Hey,You mentioned you were looking at a Skyjacker lift kit. They make a good product also and there springs are as good as anyones,(except of course high dollar custom built units, such as St Louis Spring Co.),but though they sell a drop down pittman arm they dont offer a real performance steering system such as the Superrunner System.Fords IFS front suspension is bad enough at the stock elevation it deffinitely needs some attention when you raise your rig.
