filler plug thread size 9"
hi..i need to replace my filler plug on a ford 9" thanks to a one of those quick change oil places.does anyone know what size that would be???the one they installed only goes in about 3 or 3.5 threads and tightens up.it just doesn't feel right to me.most of the plug is sticking out.(about a 1/2" worth)i now do my own oil changes and gear fluid level checks.thanks in advance

Hey, if you don't think its the right one, or maybe the right size just not the right threads, take it out and take it to lowes or autozone or somewhere like that, they should have a little board with sizes of nuts and bolts you can screw it into and see what size it is and get one like it just different threads. like maybe they just shoved what they had in and its probably metric and smaller threads and the ford is probably not metric and larger threading, or different. SAE or however they say not metric. I have a 9 inch and nothing on its metric. And yes do your own changes if possible, I don't trust my vehicles to anyone for anything, especially not some unexperienced teen that probably doesn't care, he/she is just doing the job. And yes I know there are teens out there that are responsible and care and probably more knowledgeable than me. Anyways, Just get one thats the same size just different threads, heck, pull it out and look at the threads in the axle and the ones on the plug, are they similar, probably smaller on the one they stuck in. Anyways good luck, I'll shut up.
