Not sure on the 2001, but I've looked into aftermarket grills for my 99 XLT 4X4, and even though the 4X4 grills look the same as say a standard 99, they say that there is a bit of a difference that will cause them not to fit.
Just wanted to let you know that so you get one and it doesn't line up perfectly.
I've looked for grills on ebay, fyi.

I thought about doing the same to my '03. The '05 looks like it has a different hood design where the grille meets it so you may have to replace the hood if you really want the look. The best thing to do is the next time you see an '05 parked, park yours next to it and compare.

I wanted to go the other way, '03 grille on my '04. Won't work. The '03 hood is different, comes down to meet the grille where the '04 has a gap and a rubber spacer. [Also the '03 hood is square on the back towards the windshield and the '04 is rounded.]
