What a drag.....

Okay, first the good news - I am staring at two large boxes in my garage. One contains a set of gauges - trans temp, EGT, and boost, and a pillar mounting pod. The other has a new 5-inch exhaust system.

Now the bad news - I just shredded a ligament in one knee.

The thought of the gauges and exhaust NOT being installed immediately makes me sad. The thought of trying to install the stuff with the mangled knee makes me more than nervous.

Maybe I'll have to hire someone to do it...

well, onthe bright side, most of the gauge work can be done inside the cab of the truck sittin on the seat. i'm sure a muffler ship would put on your exhaust for pretty cheap too. unless you got a couple friends who'd do it for a 12 pack. how'd you shred a ligamant anyhow?

Congrats on the new toys

PS, if you live anywhere near San Antonio, i'm jobless rigt now with plenty of time....

Hey, Redstroker. No, unfortunately, I live nowhere near San Antonio - even though I was born in Austin!! But I really appreciate the offer. I currently live in Southern California - just a smidge too far!

Anyway, I'm trying to work out a way to do the gauges, as none of it is heavy work anyway. Just awkward. If I can't figure out how to do it without tweaking my knee, then it will have to wait.

Yeah, I'll have to have a muffler shop install the exhaust. It kind of negates some of my savings, though, and it means I'll have to wait even longer before I get my tuner.

I wrecked my knee on a dirtbike. I was sliding through a muddy turn and made one little mistake. I didn't crash hard - only going about 7 or 8 mph at the time. But I crashed exactly wrong. Hit the ground, leg twisted, and I could hear the POP of my knee above the dozen motorcycles that were nearby.

After that, I stopped complaining that my truck has an automatic instead of a 6-speed and realized that sometimes, things work out the way they should. If I had a 6-speed, I wouldn't be able to drive my truck at all. With the automatic, no problem.

Bummer on the knee, how about the bike. I'm in the high desert and have been real lucky on dirt bikes. Just got a 650 quad, not sure if my luck is gonna hold out??? Sand is soft, right???

Oh, sand is soft alright. So is mud. I didn't hit hard at all. But my leg twisted and pulled as I hit. I go in on Wednesday for an MRI to find out just how bad it really is.

Sand will do it, too. AFTER THE FACT, I discovered wonderful knee braces designed to prevent the injury I just got. They are made by Asterisk.

I now HIGHLY recommend them - as I hobble along on a cane when this could have been prevented. Oh, and an ATV will not save you. All it takes is one little spill - and ATVs crash with more force than motorcycles because they weigh more....

Arninetyes,
Sorry, to hear about the knee, but believe me it can be fixed. I tore my ACL, MCL, and cartilidge when I was younger (altercation in a parking lot with a former employee, lol). Now, the knees better than ever. They'll probably put you removable stiff brace before surgery, and a walking brace shortly after. I was able to go back to work almost immediately. Grab a couple of buddies, supply the beer and just supervise! It worked for me for a while!

Thanks, Max. Yeah, that sounds like it might work. After all, the wife already knows that the massive honey-do list has been put off for a while. She thought I might be faking it - until she saw the knee collapse once. Now she wants to do everything for me. I could get used to that... LOL, but I won't!!!

Yes, it was nice for a while. Hope, you get her together soon!

Sorry to hear about your knee. I took a fall on pea gravel back in my younger days. My right foot was looking at my left for nearly two years. Haven't been on a bike since. But I still like to look at and watch them though.

Take care of youself.
