Engine Stall

This is my first post on this site, but I have read several posts and I find your enthusiasm refreshing. I do have a question, however. I have a 2004 f-150, Heritage, 4x4 with 15,700 miles (Triton V8). This past Saturday, I had just started my truck and was driving to the gym, at about 20 mph, when the engine stalled and I had to restart it. I have had no problems before or since. (At one time, I was fairly decent shade tree mechanic but I'm not familar with the electronics used on vehicles today.) Any suggestions about why this happened and what should be done?

Well, this area is more for the new model, which uses a radically different setup, no throttle cable for example.
I think I would have it at the dealership as soon as possible. Sure, it could be water in the gas, a bad senser, etc. but let them take a look.

I had the same problem with my 5.4 but more at stop signs and lights. Anyway the dealer replaced the throttle position sensor and no more problems. Oh ya, welcome aboard....

rb43, Welcome to the site. I would take it in before the warranty runs out, especially if problem continues. Good Luck!

My 2004 F150 stalls only before completely warmed and didn't start doing it till over 23k miles. Now reads 28k. Is throtle position sensor still the answer?

I think the best answer would be the Ford dealership service department, before the warranty is over. Good Luck!

I had this problem early on my 04 5.4L Triton. The dealer had a TSB and replaced the throttle body. Fixed.
Yours is the 04 Heritage which, I believe, was the 03 version of the Triton-it was different. No clue as to your problem unless the engine was updated in the Heritage edition. I don't know.
I'd follow the good advice that you've been given and get it to the dealer. It will be difficult to fix if there is no TSB and they cannot reproduce the problem, but at least they will have a record if it happens again.
