Follow-Up on Mods
The 4.10 rear and Ride-Rite™air helper springs made a tremendous difference in the towing and handling behavior of our 1999 F-250SD, 5.4, 2WD, SB. Been driving for one month now with the modifications and much easier hauling our 30' GN, LQ trailer. The changes have put new life in the truck.
Hauled 3/4 ton manure in the bed on Saturday (keeps the SUVs, minivans and wannabee pickups from tailgating for long) and the air springs handle that or the 2200# GN hitch weight without any issue. The bags keep air no problem and can pump them up with hand pump in less than one minute. Very nice floating ride, even over bad RR Tracks.
The truck has a dual role as grocery getter and hauler, and appreciate the mileage. Also, the wife loves the acceleration. Recommend both mods for anyone pushing their truck to the max. ratings.
